Speedsoft started in 1995, while Greg Speed was finishing an aerospace engineering degree at the University of Texas at Arlington and building websites back when most businesses were still asking what a website was. After graduating, he spent five years as an engineer at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, then in 2000 made Speedsoft his full-time business. From the beginning, Speedsoft has tailored its marketing around motorsports. In the 2000s, every Speedsoft server was named after a famous race car driver, like Mario Andretti, Al Unser, and A.J. Foyt.
Over the years, Speedsoft has built custom websites, membership sites, database-driven applications and online stores for small and medium-sized businesses across Dallas–Fort Worth, and added hosting, domain registration, and IT consulting along the way. One idea has stayed constant: clients get a real person who knows their systems and answers the phone.
The name fits. Before Speedsoft, Greg represented the United States in wheelchair track at the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, after setting a U.S. record in the 100 meters and helping set a world record in the 4×100 relay. He was also a member of a two-time NCAA national championship wheelchair basketball team. That same drive to go fast and get it right now powers Speedsoft's work as a virtual CTO™ for businesses in Mansfield and across DFW.
Continuing Greg's love of moving fast, his daughter, Ashlyn Speed, had a 12-year career as a race car driver, culminating in 2025 when she competed professionally in the Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship representing Whelen Manufacturing. The video on our homepage is from one of her US Formula 4 races, carrying on the family name and the love of speed.
In the 2020s, with the advent of AI/SI, we're returning to our roots, bringing the love of speed back into our design and marketing. We're moving fast and building winners.
