Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) allows for secure, encrypted data to be passed via the web between our servers and the viewer's web browser. SSL requires that the server have a Digital Certificate which is purchased from GeoTrust, Verisign or Thawte which basically certifies to the viewer that you are who you say you are. This Digital Certificate can be a considerable expense. That is why we have two options for our clients to best suit your needs.
- You can use Speedsoft's Digital Certificate
- You can buy and use your own Digital Certificate (Win2K clients must purchase their own)
The cost for using the Speedsoft digital certificate is no setup fee and $5/month. This gives you an additional web site that looks like https://www.speedsoft.com/YOURNAME.
The second option is for you to pay the GeoTrust, Verisign or Thawte yearly fees and use your own digital certificate. The hosting cost for this is a $100 onetime setup fee and no additional monthly fees. In this case, your secure pages would look like https://www.yourdomain.com/.
Most clients choose the first option as they find that to be most cost effective.
