Go right to the Auto Installation section

Guestbook allows you to set up your own comments page. From there, visitors can add entries to your guestbook and they will be displayed with the most recent additions at the top and scrolling down or vice versa. Other options include the ability to limit HTML in the entry and much more. This package is a customization for Speedsoft of Matt's Script Archive guestbook.

Test it out on our Test Guestbook. This is installed with all of the default options.

You're welcome to get the original sources from Matt's Script Archive, but it is suggested that you use our auto-installer program below. Then feel free to modify the source however you like.

There are five files included in the Guestbook package. Below is a brief summary of them:

guestbook.txt - Info File.
guestbook.pl - The Perl Script.
guestbook.html - The actual guestbook file.
addguest.html - The fill-out form for a guestbook entry.
guestlog.html - A short log of those who have added.

Auto Installation

Make sure you are on the same server as your web site:

Enter your username and password (same as your FTP and email)

Virtual Hosting Accounts

Virtual Hosting accounts, enter your domain name here in the form "yourdomain.com".
Domain Name:

Install Location

Enter the directories for installing the scripts and the html pages. Defaults are in your cgi-bin directory for the scripts and your home directory for the HTML pages. If you don't know what to enter here, leave them blank.

Script Directory:
cgi-bin//guestbook.pl

HTML Directory:
your_root//guestbook.html

Guestbook Options

These are options for configuring the script. Click on the link for each option to read about what it does. All of the options are defaulted to the most popular settings. If you don't understand what an option does, don't worry about it. Leave it set to the default setting.
